We hope that you had a great festive period and we wish you a Happy New Year. Tanfield has continued to go from strength to strength over the last quarter of 2024 and we have more good news to share with you.
Recent Events
On 26 November 2024, Tanfield held its annual Junior Property Law Conference, which entirely sold out the Inner Temple Lecture Theatre. The conference covered a range of topics which included; boundary disputes, renters rights, TOLATA, and insolvency. We were very pleased by the popularity of this event and we look forward to holding another successful event next year.
Recent News and Articles
On 6 November 2024, Christy Burzio was invited to speak on BBC Radio 4’s The Law Show for what was a very interesting discussion on the Renters’ Rights Bill with Dr Joelle Grogan. For those who missed it, please find the link here.
Tanfield’s Marc Glover and Hugh Rowan acted on behalf of the Emir of Al-Baha Province, in Mobile Telecommunications Company KSPC v HRH Prince Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz al Saud in relation to a $1.2 billion bankruptcy petition.
Tanfield’s members have produced a number of articles in which you may be interested including:
- Nicola Muir has published an article looking at what we can perhaps expect in terms of legislative changes in 2025 (article here)
- Robert Bowker has published an article concerning the recent amendments to the Building Safety Act 2022 (article here) and
- Edward Denehan has published an article discussing Millgate Developments Ltd v Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust [2020] UKSC 45 and the nature of the Upper Tribunal’s jurisdiction and discretion to vary restrictive covenants affecting freehold land (article here).
