Tanfield recognises the role it should and does play in the legal world and wider society. We therefore take part in a number of initiatives which provide opportunities and enable those currently under-represented to gain access to the legal profession.
- We are a London Living Wage Employer.
- We offer work experience for both those considering the law (eg through the 10,000 Black Interns and the Bar Council’s Bar Placement scheme) and also in the administration side of chambers.
- We work with local partners and encourage local students to apply for jobs within Tanfield and the legal profession.
- We take part in a number of charitable activities such as:
- The annual London Legal Walk and other London Legal Support Trust events
- Period Poverty
- Standard Chartered Great City Race
- Save the Children UK
- Our members provide free legal advice to those who cannot afford legal representation through schemes such as the Bar Advocate scheme and the Chancery Bar Litigant in Person (CLIPS) scheme.
- We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint not only within chambers but also when we run or attend events by making our materials available digitally and by way of QR code. We are a member of the Bar Sustainability Network.
