On 29 January 2015 Jim Fitzpatrick MP and Sir Peter Bottomley MP hosted a round table meeting at Portcullis House on the issue of leasehold reform. The meeting was convened by Leasehold Knowledge Partnership and Carlex with Martin Boyd in the chair. Jim and Sir Peter were joined by Nick Raynsford MP, Baroness Gardner and Lord Best among other Parliamentarians and Paula Hassall Head of Residential Leasehold Policy at the DCLG. Over 70 stakeholder delegates attended, including the new chair of LEASE Roger Southam, Law Commissioner Stephen Lewis, LEASE chief executive Tony Essien, London Assembly member Steve O’Connell and John Bryant of the National Housing Federation.

Philip presented a discussion paper floating possible ideas for radical reform, and gave an oral presentation following which there was a lively Q&A between the delegates, Philip and Philip’s co-speakers Darren Eade of the CMA and Ian Fletcher of the British Property Federation.

A copy of Philip’s paper can be found here.
