Tanfield Chambers are pleased to announce our forthcoming conference in January 2020 covering the law of mortgages and receivership.
The conference will take a practical look at the most important issues encountered in this field, and will consider all significant recent developments. It will be of interest to all those who represent or propose to represent either lenders or borrowers in contested mortgage litigation.
Timothy Polli QC will consider issues of priority, alteration, rectification and mistake following the decision of the High Court in Dhillon v Barclays Bank [2019] EWHC 475 (Ch). Michael Walsh will examine the powers of receivers and the right of borrowers to invoke the Court’s discretion under section 36 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 in light of the decision in Pask & Goode v Menon & Menon [2019] EWHC 2611 (Ch). It will analyse some of the most recent decisions and look at how practitioners can avoid protracted litigation.
