Caoimhe McKearney takes up Pegasus scholarship to New Zealand

As one of this year’s lucky recipients of a Pegasus scholarship, Caoimhe McKearney will shortly be heading off for a three-month placement in Wellington, New Zealand.

Pegasus scholarships are awarded annually by the Pegasus Trust to enable young barristers from England and Wales to spend time living and working in other common law countries, and forging links with lawyers there. Caoimhe will be working at the Crown Law Office of New Zealand from October to December 2017, returning to chambers in January 2018.

Caoimhe says: “Crown Law is the government department which provides legal advice and representation to the New Zealand government. It has responsibility for the management of all Crown and conservation land – amongst many other matters – so it’s the perfect place for a property lawyer to gain a comparative perspective. I’m really looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn about another legal system and share my own experiences of working as a barrister here in London.”
