Overview
Julian completed his pupillage in chambers and joined Tanfield as a tenant in October 2025. He practices in a wide range of areas in property and chancery. He is particularly interested in wills, trusts & probate; forfeiture; security over land; and real property.
Julian regularly appears as trial counsel in Fast Track and Intermediate Track matters.
He read Law at Downing College, Cambridge before undertaking the BCL at Lincoln College, Oxford and an LLM in Art Law at the University of York. His dissertation on proposals to reform the UK’s cultural property spoliation regime was marked highest in the year.
Outside of law, Julian is a keen amateur photographer.
